Climate Control & Diagnostics

Level 3 Award in Automotive Air Conditioning and Climate Control Diagnosis and Repair (EC842-2006) (QCF) 600/4336/2

This 2 day training AC training course has been developed, in part, with the Institute of the Motor Industry, to provide students with certification in Automotive Air Conditioning Climate Control, Diagnosis and Repair. It has been designed to provide an uncomplicated learning strategy, its thoroughness and depth enable the student to progressively develop all necessary skills through a structured approach.

The qualification is suitable for those technicians who wish to expand their breadth of knowledge in the diagnosis and repair of mobile air conditioning (MAC) and climate control systems.

From the Level 3 Servicing and Maintenance Qualification. We move on to the next stage and look at the way that Climate Control systems are designed and operate, specifically to provide the essential practical and theoretical knowledge that will enable a technician to carry out and understand how a climate controlled  system works, as well as diagnose and repair faults.

AC training learning outcomes :

  • The operation of Climate Control Systems
  • The component parts of a typical climate control system
  • Air conditioning and climate air distribution layout
  • Operating principles and functional requirements of components
  • Climate control configurations
  • Using electrical measurement equipment
  • Fault finding techniques
  • Diagnostic techniques and rectification procedures
  • Using technical data to aid diagnosis

In order to pass and achieve certification of the Award, learners must achieve all the unit’s   learning outcomes, by completing the underpinning knowledge assessment criteria consisting of an IMI Awards’ set theoretical and practical assessment.
